The Art of Being Average
It seems to me that all my life I've been pretty average at almost every aspects of my life. Everything from my looks, to my intelligence, to my talents and gifts.
As human beings we are all wildly different and at the same time we are the same. The color of our hair, the tone of our skin, the way we perceive the word.
As with most of us I've always viewed being average as a negative such as being part of the herd or pack. Vanilla as some people say. Ironically since my favorite ice cream flavor when I was a child was vanilla. I suppose because it was white that no one thought of it as a legitimate flavor.
Last night however, I was lying in bed, late at night listening to music and thinking about things at the same time when it occurred to me that being average can be a positive rather than a negative.
I pictured the world with it's green meadows, majestic mountains, deep blue oceans, both starry nights and sunlit days.
Then I imagined the extremely gifted people of the world flying high among the clouds, soaring ever higher than the day before. The only thing was that they were so high so lost sight of everyone else on earth.
Then there were people who were buried deep within the earth. No one moving, saying or doing anything but just laying in soil, covered almost completely. They were completely unaware of anyone but themselves. It seemed as if they were melding with the earth that surrounded them.
Then there were the "average" people. Walking around on the earth. Gently calling back to the earth those who were flying to close to the sun while helping those lying in the soil to come back from their sleep.
In this lifetime we need the flyers and the dreamers, the realists and practical, and those who are in between.
When we learn to love each other for the individual gifts that have been given to us by God then we become the church that Yeshua has called us to be.
One thing I have wondered as of late is the line that separates a "warning" from one human being to another from the insertion into the lives of those who never asked for "advice".
Something I'll probably ponder for quite a while.
Anyhoo, that's it for today my precious poppets. Thanks for taking time to read my blog.
Much love from me to you as Yeshua as given me love.
